"If Christians cannot communicate as thinking beings, they are reduced to encountering one another only at the shallow level of gossip and small talk. Hence the perhaps peculiarly modern problem - the loneliness of the thinking Christian." - Harry Blamires, The Christian Mind
I was shocked to read Keller give legitimacy to the Catholic Church and kind of narrow down true Christianity to the Apostle's Creed.
Keller may not really believe this but it is how the interview came out. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact the First Things is basically a Catholic thing.
I am disappointed that Keller minimized (in my mind) the difference between Protestants and Catholics.
Sure, I guess some Catholics are true Christians, but I do not think the Catholic Church and it's official dogmas are Christian.
Keller comments that Christianity is not really 'Mere Christianity' but in the interview is come out that way.
It never ceases to amaze me that those who have separated them selves from Christ's Church are so intent on the first person pronoun: I. "I think" or "I feel" this or that.... It's not about me or you, but it's about truth. If there's anything I've garnered from denominationalism it's that 20,000 protestant denominations where everyone is driven by The Spirit may just mean something is vitally wrong.
